The Cowboys will take some long looks at the Free Agent market, but do not expect any big deals there. It will probably mirror last year’s Free Agent activity.
While it would be great to land a Michael Bennett, this seems highly unlikely. Henry Melton may be a player to look at, but with all the Josh Brent publicity, does Dallas really want to bring in a player that is not wise enough to hire a taxi, and has a proven problem with alcohol? This brings up another puzzling question, since the Cowboys have the rights to Josh Brent, do we bring him back? Who can tell what Jerry Jones will do with either of these two situations?
Other than that, do not expect Dallas to pay out any huge sums of money for any of the top free agents. It makes better economical sense to bring in some fresh bodies, via the draft and rookie Free Agents, and develop them. Do not look for any big free agent pickups.
The Free Agents we need to worry about the most are – our own!
