Although the last three seasons have left many fans feeling empty and disappointed, there has been one bright spot.
When he arrived in Dallas, he knew he was going to have to outshine a Cowboy favorite, David Buehler. Buehler was probably the most athletically gifted kicker to wear a Cowboy uniform. He had linebacker size, excellent speed, tackling skills and a very strong leg. Problem with Buehler was his inconsistency as a place kicker. Enter Dan Bailey.
Bailey’s first year was spent splitting kicking duties with Buehler. Bailey did not have the powerful deep kickoffs that David Buehler possessed.
To Bailey’s credit and hard work, he has greatly improved his kickoffs. He has become the one thing the Cowboys could rely on for the last two seasons, and has also become one of the most valuable fantasy football kickers.
Signing Bailey to a new contract seems like a no-brainer to me. It is time to get Dan Bailey and Dez Bryant under long-term contracts.
