Year in and year out, the Dallas Cowboys have one of the best front sevens in all of football. This year is no exception, and these first seven men on the defense have to be crazed about the idea of going against this miserable offensive line of the Chicago Bears.
Matters have to be even nicer for the Cowboys, knowing that RB Matt Forte and FB Evan Rodriguez are both likely out of the lineup on Monday. We have already seen QB Jay Cutler get sacked 11 times this year, including seven against the Green Bay Packers the last time that the Bears were on national television. Who could forget Cutler getting in the face of one of his offensive linemen and shoving him with the eyes of the world watching?
That means that a big time game could be expected out of LB Demarcus Ware and the gang. Ware already has four sacks this season in three games, but he had 19 ½ sacks last year and should be a force once again on Monday. LB Anthony Spencer is well behind the pace of his sack total from a campaign ago as well, and veteran DE Jason Hatcher should be able to get into the backfield and wreak some havoc as well.
There is also some bad blood in this series that needs to be dealt with. Cutler threw for three touchdowns in a 27-20 victory here in Dallas the last time that these two teams met, and Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan isn’t going to let his team forget about it.
The Cowboys are decided 3 ½-point favorites in this game over the Bears on the NFL odds thanks to the fact that they have the top rated defense and the second rated pass defense in the league. Cutler and the boys from the Windy City are sure to have their work cut out for them.
