The Cowboys will have the home opener today when the Tampa Buccaneers travel to Dallas for a week 3 matchup. The Bucs are the most understood team in the league. The NFL and its viewers don’t know if they are for real or if they are just an average team. You know they will be a tough nosed team as they follow their head coach Greg Schiano’s tough guy style.
But if we learned anything from the Bucs-Giants game last week, it was that they can air it out but also get beat by the air. The Bucs blew a third quarter 14 point lead and allowed Eli Manning to throw for over 500 yards.
The Bucs inability to stop the pass will play in the favor of the Cowboys. I do see the Cowboys having their way both in the air and on the ground. Tony Romo will have his weapons and I can see another long day ahead for Tampa’s defense.
While not worried about the Cowboys offense, the bigger question mark is the Cowboys defense. They will be without Jay Ratliff and Kenyon Coleman. The improved Cowboys secondary will be tested and their biggest challenge will be Vincent Jackson. I do think they will be more physical this week and have their way with the Bucs.
Outcome: The Cowboys will win this one in a blowout. The Cowboys offense will have a breakout game similar to week 1 and the defense will slow down Vincent Jackson and company. The Cowboys win 35-17.
