Final Cuts: The Cowboys are set to make their final cuts today by 9 p.m. today to reach the required 53-man roster. The teams has already announced that they will announce their full cuts until 8 p.m. However, some reports have been made of some cuts that have been made. Notable cuts include rookie wide receiver Danny Coale, a fifth round pick from Virginia Tech, and undrafted free agent guard Ronald Leary. Be sure to check back for the list of final cut players.
Cowboys Trade for Veteran Guard: In an attempt to add depth to a questionable offensive line, the Cowboys made a pre-cut trade with the Dolphins to acquire veteran offensive lineman Ryan Cook for a 2013 seventh-round pick. Cook, who many believe wouldn’t survive cut day with the Dolphins, has 40 career starts. While most of his starts have been at tackle, Cook has started at guard and can play center as well.
Headed On the Right Track:Team doctors have told Jason Witten that he won’t need surgery on hit slightly lacerated spleen. Witten is aiming for a week 1 return against the Giants but his status is still unknown. In his career, only a broken jaw has held Witten out of a game as he sat out 1 game in 2003. John Phillips will most likely get the starting job at tight end if Witten can’t go against the Giants.
