The Dallas Cowboys 2011 first round draft pick (9th overall), Tyron Smith, will be the Dallas Cowboys starting Left Tackle next season. The Left Tackle position is the most important position on the offensive line for a team with a right-handed QB. The Dallas Cowboys right-handed QB, Tony Romo, needs a solid and dependable blocker to cover his blindside, and the Cowboys believe that Tyron Smith will be able to fill that position for foreseeable future.
Doug Free, the other starting tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, and the starting Left Tackle for the 2011 season will not lose his starting spot, instead he will be moved to right tackle. This move is being made because Tyron Smith was drafted so that he could one day be the anchor of the offensive line and protect Tony Romo’s blindside. After a year of being the teams best lineman as only a rookie, the Cowboys head coach, Jason Garrett, is making the right decision.
