Cowboys Play Not to Lose
In what was expected to be a high scoring game both defenses played pretty well in this one. But the Pats D that has been criticized most of the season got some big stops in the fourth. Dallas’s defense was strong for most of the game also against Tom Brady but they could not get the stop when they needed it most in the fourth.
The real story in this game however, was that the Cowboys instead of playing for the win really just played not to lose. We all remember Herm Edwards famous press conference “You play to win the game!” The Cowboys really did not think of that today. They had a change to end the game late in the fourth just by picking up a couple first downs. Instead of passing and doing what they did all game long to take the lead they ran the ball. They tried to run down the clock. As a Jet fan I know you will never beat Tom Brady, Bill Belicheat and the Pats if you play not to lose.
“You play to win the game. HELLO!”
